A note on Job Titles
There’s no unified system of Job titles in Hairdressing. A hairdresser in a small quiet Salon may title themselves as a “Creative Artistic Director” but may be less skilled or experienced than a “Stylist” in a Salon where the culture of training and expectations of the required standard of hairdressing are at a much higher level.
Our Assistants are normally (though not always) Apprentices undergoing training to become Qualified Hairdressers. They’re learning their trade in the Salon and at College. From the very start under supervision, they will be learning and practising the skills they’ll need, be it colouring or blow drying and later on, cutting.
When ready, they’ll be working at a standard that allows them to provide support (especially colouring and blow drying) to other Stylists. By the time they qualify, they’ll already have an established Client base and their own Column.
Graduate Stylists are recently fully qualified Hairdressers (at NVQ Level 2 or above). Based on ability and hard work, we would normally expect Graduate Stylists who have undergone apprenticeships with us to be promoted to Stylists within a couple of years.
Stylists are fully qualified Hairdressers (at NVQ Level 2 or above) and have the experience and expertise to consistently deliver great cutting, finishing, styling and colour work. Stylists at this level will have an established Client base and will normally have a minimum of around a couple of years post qualification experience.
Stylists are fully qualified Hairdressers (at NVQ Level 2 or above) and have extensive experience and expertise to consistently deliver great cutting, finishing, styling and colour work. Stylists at this level will have an established repeat Client base and will have a waiting list.
Salon Directors have considerable experience and will have been Hairdressing for many years at an advanced level. They will have had extensive additional training and may have specialised in areas such as cutting, colouring or extensions on top of their day to day all round skills. Stylists at this level will have an established repeat Client base and will have a waiting list .
